dark light

Science Museum, London with a Sony A7s

Nothing that hasn’t been seen before but as my Sony A7s (s = ‘special’ as in taking photos at very high ISO numbers with nil to minimum digital noise) Compact Systems Camera finally arrived, I was itching to try it out before the dark, frosty, moonlit winter nights arrived. With it’s dark blue painted ceiling, the aeroplane gallery in the Science Museum was a natural choice to try out a camera that shoots in the dark. If it can cope with that colour, it can cope with anything. The Auto Focus on the A7 & A7s is a bit pedestrian compared to that on the Sony Alpha SLT but as I’m not using them for ‘action’ shots, that’s not a problem. A plus point on the A7s is a silent shutter. You can stand in the middle of a crowd and no one knows you are taking photographs. The photos are all hand held (tripods are not allowed in the Science Museum), in the order they were taken in Extra Fine Jpeg and with a view to the lighting conditions rather than the exhibits on show.

We’ll ignore the one from the 3rd of March. I’ve never understood that sort of post. What’s it supposed to achieve?

And the one by starsofttech of 16 October? Is that not spam?

I think it may be better to not reply and leave the spam post last. There’s then a chance that Bruce or Peter will spot it – obviously Key won’t.

It’s funny, only yesterday I checked this topic, out of curiousity, to see if the holistictech software advertising had been taken down by the moderators or the webmaster, only to find that it was still there but had not been added to – and then, today, along comes starsofttech’s ‘escort’ agency advertisement! The fact that the likes of these can be posted and, when they are, they are neither taken down nor the poster banned, cannot do much for the credibility of this website – assuming that it has credibility and Key Publishing values that.

On current form, I guess that the chances of Key doing anything about him are substantially less than zero, whatever guff they spout about monitoring the forums.

We just need to hope that Bruce or Peter will spot him.

Thanks for keeping up the pressure, aa. If “Key Aero” sees this: please act now. Ban this intruder and clean up our forum. Thanks.

I note that holistictech5500 has only three posts to his/her name, presumably the two of today and the one of 23 September. To me, that suggests that he/she was banned but has popped up again, presumably with a new alter ego. Maybe there is a perception, amongst his/her ilk, that the policing of this forum is so lacking that even if one may be banned ultimately, one can get away with displaying one’s wares for a sufficiently long period of time to make it worth one’s while to ‘evolve’ after each banning. Could that be because the forum is now ‘moderator lite’?

It seems that you just can’t keep him down – certainly without banning him. But maybe the powers that be don’t want to ban him if posts like his serve to keep up the footfall here!

Thanks Bruce. I hope Key Aero reads this. I know he or you have deleted some scams recently, but, yes, there should be some account blocking too. Cheers.

Sorry, Bruce, I forgot to say thanks for responding to my wailing.

Did I miss holistic-whatsit again?

If so, why isn’t he barred?

Can’t Key Aero simply block this joker? It’s not the mods’ job.
