Scottish Aviation Limited / Beagle queries

Back in 1972 there were various uncompleted airframes outside the SAL hangars at Prestwick.

One was a B206 marked Frame 30. Does anybody know what actual one this was?

Also, there were various piles of incomplete Pup fuselages, which presumably were later scrapped, near Hangars 38 and 173.

Can anybody tell me anymore about these?

very long since … We try to rehearse the “life” of Bernie Cornfelds Convair CV-240 HB-IMS / N93218.

We are searching for somebody who can tell us – or check sources – about the period, N93218 was parked (stored?, checked?, repaired?) at Prestwick, and when it left to Tel Aviv.

For us Basle spotters, the history of this plane ends in September 1972 (or 18th or 21st), when N93218 left BSL to Prestwick. Here people were told that it had left to Los Angeles, with a first fuel stop foreseen at Prestwick.
But the history says that the plane burnt out 1983 in a hangar fire at Tel Aviv, belonging to IAI at that time.

You will find some pictures of this plane at:
http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/browse/registration/HB-IMS/
http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/browse/registration/N93218/

More pictures are to come soon, while the comments have to be revised in a few points, considering newer discussions. (Unfortunately texts are in German onl

BTW: You might find a lot of pictures on www.bsl-mlh-planes.net with a connex to the UK world of aviation, starting as early as August 16th, 1923, when the first scheduled flight of Handley Page Transport Ltd passed through the earlier Airport Basel-Sternenfeld (http://www.bsl-mlh-planes.net/albums/album_id/24/), later followed by all the famous large biplanes of Imperial Airways.

And there’s the unfinished Twin Pin c/n 585.

Who’s that in the picture? This brings back memories of bunking round the SAL site trying to keep one step ahead of security. Dane Murdoch and I got nabbed one December whilst standing under Benie Cornfeld’s CV240 N93218 having just “done” the RCAF storage hangars.

I bought c/n 186 but they scrapped it “by mistake” and refunded the cost!
Before anyone asks its not me in the photo!

Queen might be the best description but she certainly is most talented.

I guess you do have the wrong c/n. 😉

I must change that to Lady Gaga.

I don’t think it was C/N 030 as this was an unfinished airframe

Pup frame 188: This was used by an ATC Squadron in Kilmarnock. It was painted up as a Bulldog if I remember, with serial KK327, and I remember seeing it at a Prestwick Air Show (or HMS Gannet Day) in 1983. I don’t have W&R to hand at the moment, so I don’t know if they still have it.
