Rekkof
Well, this will be my first post on this Forum and.., lets get right to the Question… haha! 🙂
Does anybody know any news about the Rekkof Aircraft Company?
I’m currently working at Fokker Services and, as one of the youngest members from the Engineering Department, i’m the most curious about the Rekkof company…
Any news is welcome!!
Best regards!!

RE: Scottish delights
Photos where taken from the departure lounge. I used a 150 zoom, which helps quite a lot.

RE: Scottish delights
LGKR – I agree on the Fokker idea BUT for bmi i believe this wouldn’t be the case. I can see bmi (remember Mainline here not Baby) going for the Emb 170/190 family for the fleet comonality reasons, but they are hanging on the the F100s to see how the project goes as happened with the E145. The A318 does look to be virtualy a direct competitor with the larger Emb family and bmi will keep an eye on the sucess of these one way or another. If EMB fairs better they will choose to go for that – fleet commonality with the 135/145 family, if not they’ll go the otherway and downsize the A318!
Just another thought!

RE: Scottish delights
only slightly… perhaps!
presumably the F70 will have to be replaced with another type for capacity reasons, whether it be of the same size or larger size. If BMI go Airbus then yes they will save some money for example on maintenance/parts and an the usual fleet commonality such as flight crew training.
and apart from anything else, i dont belive that BMI would replace the type if it wasnt cheaper for them to run a different a/c type.. it jsut wouldnt make sense would it!
though, could it not be said that they could lose out at some stage. Isnt the main reason that Fokker, (Rekkof) is going to start re-producing the F70 that the airliner was ahead of its time and that its operational type is more suited to airlines of today!?!? -just a thought.

Dan330. Eddinburgh doesnt have a viewing area now. You can see all the aircraft from the departure lounge.

What do you think?

RE: Scottish delights
thats a good idea bmi have. Wont that reduce fleet costs and hopefully therefore prices or will they be greedy and just get more profit?

RE: Scottish delights
BMI are converting to an all-Airbus fleet, apart from BMI regional which will keep the ERJ’s. I’m not sure where the F70 or F100 fit into that, but best guess is that they will gradually be disposed of.

Thanx for that Dan, I too would love to see a Fokker in the new livery. Perhaps one day?

Keltic – Where abouts in Edinburgh were these taken? Is there a viewing area there?
Very nice pics and agree that the snow makes them look even better.
Andrew – I don’t think it has been decided yet as to whats happening to the F100’s so maybe thats as far as they’ll go. Would love to see one in the new colours though, preferrably before they all ship out of EMA!

RE: Scottish delights
How do they deice an aircraft?
LOL would it be funny if a aircraft had say 5″ of snow on top then went it went for take off roll it just dumped it at the end of the runway hehe. Imagine the pile after an A380!!!
BTW, How the hell do you de-ice a A380. Surly the constructions you taxi through at places like Frankfurt(?) arnt tall enough?

RE: Scottish delights
Great shots Keltic, I am a fan of the Go Livery. The BMi livery… are all the BMi fleet to, at sometime, recieve the new BMi livery or will they remain in the hybrid scheme?

While in Edimburgh I´ve seem a GO plane, called…..GO EURO.
…..oppps….Isn´t it a bit bold this name in the UK?. I hope THE SUN or THE TIMES or other anti-euro papers don´t see the plane:-)
