While the residents down south are thinking of organising a meet, why not the guys (and gals?) north of the Border have one sometime?
East Fortune seems like a safe bet for a venue – we all know where it is (roughly).
How about it?

Great day out , great bunch of lads , well done to Keith for his “technical talks” – however I got the impression ( dont know why ) that he may dislike Phantoms ever so slightly.
Anybody interested in hiring a minibus and heading down to see Just Jane or one of the Old Warden dusk airshow and take in a museum too .

Sounds like a good day out there lads. If I wasn’t so 99.9% anchored in the Commercial forum I may have read this thread by now and joined you for the day. Maybe next time ?
Right then…. back to the CF, got a GLA meet on June 3rd to sort out ! 😀

It has been said before, but I’ll say it again: many thanks to all for a great day!
I’ll add some of my images to the other thread.

Well I had a cracking day out, with some good company. And I’m amazed at my willpower – I didn’t buy a single model from the shop! 😀
Thanks again, guys!

Adding my thanks to Keith and Dave. Also for a great day out.

I’d just like to echo that.
It was a real treat to hear Keith’s stories and anecdotes, and to put faces to names.
I’ll now look at Vulcans ,Phantoms and Tornados with different eyes, and thanks to Radar Archive for the talk on Radar!
A really enjoyable day out-and all for 2 quid!
By: RadarArchive - 24th April 2004 at 18:27
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Keith for the Tornado presentation and his expanations of the various panels and bits and pieces, David MacKenzie of the APSS for showing us round and to everyone who was able to come along. It’s been a great day and I’ve certainly learned a lot more about the various lumps on Vulcans. 😀

I’m bringing along my r/c Spit if anyone wants to see it. Wont be flying it though.

I’ve spoken with Stuart Macdonald who is head of Engineering Conservation and he’ll probably be working on Concorde tomorrow. As a result, the hangar doors will probably be sitting slightly open, so we might (and I mean, might) get a look at her.
I understand the model of Drone Hill is progressing well, although unfortunately the towers are away at a model show this weekend, so they won’t be there. I’ll bring my spare towers with me (which they were kind enough to make up for me to use for display purposes) to give an idea of scale.
Do bring your P-51 if it’s not too much trouble. The way things are shaping up, we might actually be reasonably busy at EF. I had fears that we would see almost nothing, but the latest reports suggest almost business as usual, with possibly even a glimpse of concorde, so it will hopefully be a grand day out.
And, of course, if any of you can bring an interesting mystyer object for a bit of fun and games for the rest of us to try to identify, all good and well.
See you all tomorrow! 🙂

I’ve got a few close up shots of Concorde taken on Tuesday , not a pretty sight but I’ll print them out and bring them along anyway .:(

As an after thought. If we are going to Drem later then I will pack the trusty old P-51 Mustang for a couple of flights while we are at Drem seeing as this is my flying site. Subject to weather of course.
Anyone interested in seeing this is more than welcome to join me.
Ian, I forgot to say although I think I mentioned before that I got a peak in the radar room at EF I think it may have been the PFA flyin but this was a rather nice dispaly to see especially the Drone Hill model and the Lancaster radar mockup.
See you all tommorrow.

sounds like a good idea Ian. At least then we will be able to see her in her full splendour. At least externally to begin with. Well at least I would hope so anyway.

I’m not sure that I can commit to this at present, but may I suggest that at the very least we meet up again once Concorde is on public display? Although we won’t be able to get into her until sometime in 2005, she will be externally viewable from sometime in August. Perhaps another meet in September?

I’ll break out the silk scarf so Ian recognises me! 😉
By: archieraf - 22nd April 2004 at 23:53
So, is that a full turnout for the Jocks then?
Anyone not coming?
🙁 I can’t make it this time but would be interested in coming along on any future expeditions.
I hope everyone has a great day out & will look forward to hopefully seeing some pics on the forum in due course.
Be good you lot, and if you can’t be good be careful!

😀 😀
That’s what I meant!
You’ll get pretty close if you pronounce it like yella. It’s one of those names that doesn’t translate very well!
I’m sure we’ll get it sorted by the end of the day on saturday!
See you guys then! (Have found blue Spitfire cap to wear so Daz and Ian will have something to look for)

Allright, looks like everything is sorted then. No preferences on the lunch logistics, I won’t be able to bring my own though, don’t think the place I’m staying at will do me a packed lunch.Daz, haven’t got a Spitfire T-shirt but I will see if I can find one with an aeronautical theme to suit the occasion! Hold on, I’ve got a Spitfire cap, will that do to recognise me?
As for real names, I’ll have to explain to you guys how to pronounce mine first, otherwise we’ll still get strange looks! 😀
I was going to ask that – how do you pronounce Jelle ?? , is it like Jelly ? , on second thoughts can we just call you Archer ??:)
