A very corny and perhaps much exaggerated verbatim extract from diary entry dated 25 April 1944 written at Kumbhirgram, a concrete strip set in a tea plantation about ninety miles slightly North of West, from Imphal. The aircraft concerned were a Spitfire mark VIII and a Japanese Oscar. The Spit was my own coded FL-S serial number JF898 of 81 Squadron R.A.F. The Oscars unknown, as it came down in dense bamboo jungle….
