Did anyone see Scap Heap Challenge last night?
Anyone that didn’t (its a UK show) the format of the show is that two teams are given a task to do, ie build a catapult that can throw a mini, or build a submarine etc. Well they have to do this using only junk!
Last night’s program was for three teams, UK, France and USA to build a 1910 aircraft that will fly for half a mile across a dry lake. Thee was no payload, only a pilot, but the twist was that they could only use tools that were available at the time. All three teams did very well, but I have to say that the Brits trounced the French and USA teams (sorry a bit patriotic there) I’ll try and find some pics.

RE: Scrap Heap Challenge
HOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAA for the UK…..we, by far, in my personal, biast, opinion made the better of the aircraft, the flight performance alone shows that…
the french bleriot looked really quite nice but unfortunatley for the americans….they built a brick….sack the guy who did the CG calcs!
otherwise, damn good show. and a big thankyou for the FAA who must have bent over backwards to allow this to happen.
