Screenshots

Anyone know how to get screenshots from a DVD? Tried doing it on the laptop, pausing the film, pressing printscreen and pasting it into paint, but then when i unpause the film, the film continues to be played on the actual picture, as well as media player! Any idea what i can do?

You can try VideoLan, which is a free and open-source software for viewing all kinds of video files, including DVDs. It allows you to take screenshots among many other things.

Plus, (when playing mpeg’s or avi’s) it has the great advantage that it doesn’t need any codecs at all, like divx or xvid.

Just tried it on Windvd – screen capture is disabled, checked the settings etc, looks like it must be copyright protected making it not possible to take screenshots

WinDVD allows you to take stills. Been a while since I’ve done it, but it can be done.

I’ve also tried it many a time.

Maybe using something like photoshop will work? Or when you take the shot, close the media player and then paste in onto paint or whatever.
