SE5a replica

Can anyone share more light on this one?

Doesn’t look to me like the usual Replica Plans job…

What was the story with the one at Corwall Aero Park/Flambards at Helston? It certainly looked very good. Where did it end up and is it on display?

I would love to know where all the Replica’s went from there. Particularly the “Flambards” TV series A/C. Only the Blackburn Mercury seems to have surfaced at Elvington.

What is happening with this one now? Is it returning to the UK?

Yes it is.

John went on to build a replica SE5 to the original drawings and powered with an Hispano Suiza which untill recently was flying with the Memorial Flight in France.

Ah yes, I should have thought to ask you! 😉

When I looked up the reg on the CAA website, I saw the name “John Tettley” and thought it looked familiar! I didn’t think it was the one that went to France, mind.

One wonders how this one might have fared had the project kept going…

Daz you only had to ask!

This was built by John Tettley and a frieand many years ago. Full size with a ply box type construction and was going to be powered by a Gipsy Major. Various issues arose and it was not completed and the project abandoned. John went on to build a replica SE5 to the original drawings and powered with an Hispano Suiza which untill recently was flying with the Memorial Flight in France.
