Hi all,
I’m asking this for a ‘friend’ 😉 . I reckon I’ve got some good books and info of the magnificent Sea Fury, but I wondered what other people on the Forum thought? Technical stuff, I’ve only got the Pilot’s Notes, but there have been a few books – though, as yet in my opinion, nothing really definitive. Any other thoughts?
Cheers

Steve,
Their website is http://www.fleetairarm.com/indexFlash.htm
Let me know what you need as it may be easier if I speak to the RN Historic Flight people (they operate an airworthy Sea Fury) also based at Yeovilton.

Any information on how I can contact the FAAM?
Thanks for the help.

Also, any book recomendations covering the history of Hawker would be great.
I have the small blue book on “Pilot notes” which is usually available on ebay. While limited, it does have some good information.
Thanks for your help with this JDK. I’d say you’ve earned a Sea Fury ride next time you’re in the States.

Hey Steve – seriously, contact the FAAM – they will be able to copy you all this stuff.

Hi SR P,
What is it you’d like to find out about the Sea Fury? I guess it’s not ‘how to get in’ 😀 I’ve quite a bit on the a/c and a lot of photos, so I may be able to help. If it’s tech stuff, for Centarus a/c (I know your’s has something else in!) the Fleet Air Arm Historic Flight might be able to help.
What would you like?
Cheers

Thanks for the info on ddvideo.co.uk.
I’ve learned that you can now buy VCRs here in the States that play all the different formats! This is great news, as there are a number of videos out of the UK that look really great, but have been unavailable to those of us across the Atlantic.
I’ve ordered the Sea Fury video, and a few more that look good.
Sort of like finding buried treasure! Thanks Again!

Steve, I don’t know if it’s the one you’re looking for but http://www.ddvideo.co.uk/ have a 1hr 32 min Sea Fury video.
As you guessed, it’s PAL only. A lot of modern VCRs here will play NTSC videos. Don’t know if you get ones that will do the opposite.

Any specifics on where I might be able to find the RNHF “Sea Fury” video? I know it will probably be PAL, but hopefully I can get a shop here in the US to make me a copy.
The squadron/signal book sometimes shows up on ebay, but it’s not easy to find. I did see that amazon.com has Kev Darling’s book.
Many thanks for any helpful information!

Have you seen the ‘Warbird Tech ‘ series books?
Volume 37 Hawker Sea Fury by Kev Darling is very good ,it has in its 105 pages the following:
Quote:
In depth developement history
Extensive technical diagrams
Full technical Description
War performance in Korea
Reno Air Racers
Full service history
It also has some nice colour photo’s which i hadn’t seen in print before.
I bought my copy from a bookstall at DX,but Midland Publishing at www.midlandcountiessuperstore.com my be able to supply,as they are U.K. distributors.
Hope this is of use,
Steve

Although not a book, I feel the video “Sea Fury” (narrated by Richard Baker) is one of the better reference sources available. It is based on RNHF operations, primarily on their 2 seater but it gives a good technical overview. I think it is still available through normal aviation related websites.
