I went to la Ferté-Alais last week and made some photos of the ‘ISS Fury’. I have tried to find some infos about this aircraft when I got back to home and the only reference I found is in Geoff Goodall Warbirds Directory 4th Edition book – it gives the following details:
• Fury AJBS, La Ferté-Alais,
France: stripped, rest. project 98/02
(rep. as Baghdad Fury: source unknown)
I’m not convinced as I also photograph what seems to be the left wing and we can clearly see that the british roundel is still there.
My question is: how it is possible an aircraft that is reported to have seen service in Iraq & Morocco is still painted with this sort of markings? Any ideas where we can locate some details or marks to prove its ID?
I have also photographed this dataplate in the cockpit: does anyone what means the references?
Any thoughs?

G-ORDY – A friend was working for the Moroccan Air Force in the 1980s and described to me his protracted negociations to acquire a Fury. He mentioned one on a pole and one of the others pretty much matching the picture. Sadly for him there were too many palms requiring greasing!

These are the numbers of published British patent applications or patent specifications, and at the time unpublished applications (the last ones with the /). The placard was probably put there to advertise the fact that components of the aircraft were patented (or expected to be) and that copying the components in question would result in the infringer being taken to court and possibly ordered to pay damages and or licencing fees. You can probably retrieve these patents here:
The Hurricane has a similar patent plate in it.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I was interested in the Morocco connection. The data plate would suggest that this a/c came from the second Iraqi order for 25 single seat Furies (dated 21 July 1951). Ten of the batch were diverted from FAA orders for FB.11 Sea Furies and this seems to be one of them. If so it was in the IAF serial range 302 – 311.
I have a note that in the mid-1980s the Salis organisation acquired three Moroccan Furies, two were said to be ex-Iraqi 234 and 259 – making them “Bagdhad Furies” – this seems to be the third one.
I suspect that the fourth aircraft is the one depicted in the following photos which were sent to me in 1988 by the Defence Attache of the British Embassy in Rabat, he acquired them from Moroccan Army HQ.
I’ve been “out of the loop” for about 20 years so all of this may be well known to all, in which case apologies.

The Fury was jointly owned by the Salis organisation and by Pierre Dague. Dague was killed in a T28 crash and the Salis organisation ran into some financial cutbacks. Therefore the Fury has been back-burnered ever since it got there.

Robbelc, as far I know, the Sea Fury is still in storage…

There were several crates of as new or repaired Seafury outer wings at Staravia – in the Ascot area circa 1980. Doug Arnold had several pairs when based at Blackbushe.
They were painted in RN livery as your photo.
This could well be from that source.

I saw it at LFA back in 1998. How far has the restoration gone so far? Been after a ID for this one for years.
