I know they haven’t got proper engines but they’re still Sea Furies…

Baz–
Right, should’ve clarified my reply…Sanders produced the Smokewinder system specifically to assist in measuring/defining tip vortices, so there are vortices being produced…but the smoke system makes them very visible. These are two of the Sanders family’s own Furies, and “Argonaut”, at least, often sports Smokewinders (their stock T20 used to too).

Wooo! Just barely this side of too thrilling…
Those aren’t tip vortices coming off “Argonaut” btw, she’s got a wingtip smoke system (Sanders Smokewinders), similar to what the R Neth AF F-16 demos used to use. That’s about the coolest-looking Warbird pass I’ve yet seen.

LNS was correct …the smoke at the end of the vid clip was to be seen swirling in the tip vortices (you could hear them).
I did not see anything too dangerous in either pass, probably a private ‘do’…a near enough straight and level low pass is not really that dangerous… a rolling or looping manoever at low altitude is much more dangerous and the cause of numerous accidents.

I’m with you
Personally i’m not impressed. Thats not displaying an historic aircraft, its displaying an enormous ego.. and i’ve seen enough of them end in disaster over the years.!
IMO its Crass and loud – it’s like an old film star not accepting the passage of time and tarting up for film roles etc……..

Bet OHB would’ve halved that height 😀

Lighten up wyvernfan!!
It’s a classic British thoroughbred, modifed to go bl00dy fast and low around a racing circuit…
It’s being capably flown by an experienced pilot who, I’m sure has taken appropriate consideration of the risks involved. Accidents do happen in all walks of life and the margin for error in this scenario is reduced. Nevertheless, I’d much prefer to see it in this environment than any other…

Check out the wingtip vortices on the first video.
Imagine catching one of those half-way round a pylon at Reno at 450+mph 😮

Fantastic! I can only assume that the persons present were thoroughly briefed on what to do if the aircraft had suffered an emergency and cleared the tarmac area. Shades of the Martin Sargeant (spelling) incident in France.

Just out of shot is Ray Hanna, shaking his head and thinking “Lightweight! Far too much space left underneath…”
Adrian
(sadly, Ray’s presence is wishful thinking :()
