Both the French registered Furies are powered by Wright R-3350’s, as are most of the “Americanized” Furies. The only exceptions as far as I’m aware are Dreadnought, flying with a whopping 28-cylinder P&W R-4360, and Argonaut with a P&W R-2800. Both were converted by Sanders Aeronautics, and the R-2800 fit on Argonaut is a fairly recent modification which could be applied to other examples in due course. Whatever engine the Sea Fury has it’s pretty damn impressive. The climb outs were fantastic – the aircraft just seemed to keep going up without losing speed. I hope these few pictures can show just that.

She has a Wright R-3350 fitted.

I think more likely a P&W 2800.

It’s a beautiful aircraft. It’s just a shame that she is not fitted with a Centaurus.

Day we went there was a bit of wind, I gather on a still day the display is even better. Great photos of a stunning aircraft.
