Sea Fury, Zero & French Jet Trainer at Houston DW Hooks Airport

Was out at DW Hooks for lunch Sep 1 and stumble on this Sea Fury, race prepared, Spirit of Texas, as it was passing thru!!!!

Was out there again on Sep 30, last Friday and saw this French jet trainer. I was told it was passing thru to escape Hurricane Rita. (Luckily it missed us in Houston AND the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston on the coast, which surely would have been wiped out had Rita hit!)

In October, a Hawker Hurricane is expected in, for a new paint job by John Stewart, who did Rayburn Thompson’s MK959 Spitfire (winner at Oshkosh this last yr)… Rayburn’s replica Zero (fantastic job!) is in for an annual and respray… I caught it being towed out Friday too..

You never know what you will find at Hooks..

The French Trainer is a Fouga Magister, as used by the national aerobatic team the ‘Patrouille de France’ a regular visitor to UK airshows in the ’70s & ’80s
