Hi
While browsing the net I came across this site and thought you guys might be able to help me out, being the knowledgable bunch you appear to be!
As of October, I’m going to be a final year politics student. I’m planning on writing a dissertation whether the government was premature in retiring the SHAR and I’m currently trying to gather sufficient useful sources to be allowed to do it.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a website (or even better, a book) that describes in some detail the landing of two SHARs on HMS Fearless and Intrepid during the Falklands I’d be extremely grateful. I’ve got a couple of books that mention it, but only as captions to pictures.
If anybody knows of any other good sources that would be useful in answering my dissertation question I’d love to hear about them!
Many thanks,
Mike Bagwell
ps I hope I posted this in the right forum – I wasn’t sure which one it belonged in since the SHAR is rapidly becoming historic!

Hi
Thanks very much for your replies – both very useful.
On a slightly different topic, if anybody has “Sea Harrier and AV-8B” by Robert Jackson I’d be interested to know what they thought of it – I’ve seen a copy for sale on ebay but have bought rather a lot of books recently and am not really gaining any new info from them. Does it say anything new that the new Sea Harrier book by Jamie huunter, “Harrier” by Francis K Mason and “Harrier at War” by Alfred Price don’t?
Sorry if that’s a bit specific, just thought I’d ask in case anybody has it!

I have a very good book called:
Harrier. Ski-jump to victory.
By: John Goddern
ISBN 0-08-031167-9
It is a collection of stories writain by some of the Harrier pilots involved in the Falklands operation. One of them refers to landing on the Intrepid.

P.S. My copy is signed by John Farley The Harrier test pilot!!!!
