Sea Harriers at Yeovilton

I hope you can help, the weekend before christmas on the way to visting my family in the west country I stopped for a break and a look around the Fleet Air Arm Museum, which was as good as always.

What caught my eye was 3 Sea Harriers on view on the live side close to the museum, indeed you can see them from viewing areas inside the museum.

What I’m interested to know, are these examples to be preserved either with the museum or another museum in this country? and indeed any histories.

Thanks for any information you have

I’ve been told it was moved to the paintshop 😀

as of mid december it was nice and dry in 6 hanger, had a nose round it,fair bit of corrosion on underside of fuselage.

Slight bit of thread drift, but whats happened to the Phantom that was brought back to Yeovilton from Leuchars? Is it on display?

Thanks Jack, good to here there staying here!:)

Wouldn’t be a bad idea to add a Harrier to the Historic Flight as it is an important aircraft, but I fear the costs to do so would be too much!

Smon, unless it was in the Carrier Experience (didn’t have time) the Phantom from Leuchars, it’s not visable at the museum, could it be accross the road in Cobbam Hall? or again is it the Navy’s and on the liveside somewhere?

I love two seat harriers 🙂
They should fly one as part of the historic flight!

The Navy brought them back to Yeovilton, and they have graced the static at the 2011 and 2012 airdays.
