Not sure if historic is correct but worth a punt ?
During the 70’s or 80’s, an oil rig under tow broke loose in the Channel. In the national papers (I’m thinking “The Express” as thats what my dad read), there was I recall a stunning picture of a Sea King hovering between the upturned legs of the rig taken from above.
I’ve been googling away and can’t trace anything – does anybody have any ideas or links etc?
I’m asking as I saw a SAR demo in Ilfracombe last week by a 22 sqn machine, I remember when I was about 10 seeing a Wessex doing the same demo in the harbour, BSG Junior was with me and I was telling him about it (now he wants to be a SAR pilot instead of Tornado!;))
