Sea King XZ598; restoration and a new life beckons…

For those of us living in Yorkshire, the once familiar sight of RAF Leconfield based Sea Kings in our skies is now sadly a thing of the past. Fortunately, one of the big yellow machines has returned to the county; XZ598 is now located in Scarborough and, after restoration, will start a new life as a cafe! Firstly the owner has to restore her from a stripped hulk though, to the point where she is externally complete and the cockpit restored. I am raising this here as the owner has kindly donated me all the wiring and hydraulic pipes he has removed from 598 for use on my own project, and one good turn deserves another!
If you have any Sea King parts or AP’s going spare he would love to hear from you. Either search Sea King Cafe on Facebook, go to http://Www.seakingcafe.co.uk, or drop me a message on here and I will pass it on.

I think he is aiming slightly higher than greasy spoon; I think more cappuccino fit!
Her owner is likely to be at Newark Aerojumble, if anyone is bringing any Sea King bits to sell…

Sounds like a good way of saving some of our aviation heritage! There was a similar thing on telly a little while ago – a couple in Stirling converted one for use as B&B accommodation. I think you can probably see the episode here:

Cheers…
