Yes once we get it airworthy it will be the only one. I will check out the New Zealand forum, thanks for the info.

Would this be the only airworthy two seat Sea Venom (when she flies)? Put a shout out on the Wing over New Zealand Forum if the Vampire connection pans out(as the RNZAF operated the Vampire). Link here (put it in the Forum marketplace section): http://rnzaf.proboards.com/

Thank you for your replies and words of encouragement. We know that the actual tires for the Sea Venom are much larger in diameter than a Vampire. What we don’t know is if the wheels themselves are the same size or similar. We plan on taking a Vampire nose wheel assembly when we go back to the Sea Venom, hopefully in a month and a half or so, to see if it will work. If it doesn’t hopefully we can find a solution so we can make her airworthy.
Here is a photo of the actual nose wheel of our aircraft. I wish I had a Vampire wheel to show the comparison.

Also, if you know of anybody that may have parts for a Sea Venom please let me know. We are looking for a ladder and jury struts.
Here is a photo of our aircraft, enjoy!

They will work, but aren’t necessarily the same! Typical de Havilland that.
Tyres and tubes are very scarce these days. I think it might be time for a new batch to be made, but it wont be cheap. Might be worth working out how many operators there are, and seeing if the numbers can be made to work. As long as there are existing moulds – and there probably are for these, they aren’t mega expensive.

Hello all,
I am looking for a nose wheel, tube and tire for a Sea Venom FAW21/53. The part number for the wheel is AH 9912, Tube is Dunlop L.B. 9 and the Tire is Dunlop L.B.N. 32 size is 17 1/2 x 5.5 – 71/2 T.C.
If anybody knows where I might be able to find these please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would like to have these units so my crew can get our Sea Venom back in the air. Also if you know where parts may be I would like to know that as well. Our goal is to make her stay in the air for a long time.
I will post photos in a couple of weeks of the aircraft.
Hi Sea Venom.
Great project. If it helps, I think your nose wheel and tyre are common with all vampires and venoms too. The swiss airforce aircraft and spares sold in the early 90’s would be a likely source.

Hi Sea Venom, welcome to the forum. I can’t help with your request I’m afraid but want to wish you good luck in getting your Sea Venom back into the air. It’s an aircraft I’ve always admired and would love to see one fly one day.
I look forward to seeing some pics of your aircraft in due course!

Wasnt that the prototype SV?
Yes, first production Sea Venom didn’t fly until the following year.
