I’d just like to say that I don’t mind aircraft being painted other than in their service colours, so long as it’s a good, interesting and (especially where sponsorship is concerned at least) varied.

The 2004 G-CVIX should have a different paint scheme from a 2003 one! Simply to date the photographs, if nothing else!!!!!

It is, and has knackered wings last I heard.

I thought I had heard somewhere that the wings had been changed for a non-knackered set sometime in the past, but I could be wrong of course.

Keep your eyes open for the next update to the Kemble Show………………….Shades of 2001……………you won’t be dissapointed.

I am already getting a ‘de ja vue’ feeling of nostalgia coming over me – what a line-up, ex FAA Sea Hawk, Gannet and Sea Vixen…..hmmm, please park them together Glen? 🙂

Just seen the thread. Fantastic. One of the highlights of the birthday show.
As it’s a birthday bash for the Reds are there going to be other aerobatic team coloured aircraft attending, even for the static e.g Patrioulle Suisse Hunter?

I wish we could but our finances are limited. Perhaps BH at HHA could get in touch and see what we can work out?

We have got Yellowjacks Gnat, Black Arrows Hunter in the flying display and hopefully the Red Pelicans and Poachers JP’s plus a Red Arrows Gnat on static.

As its my only airworthy local historic jet (we as well as the other aircraft at bournemouth). I’d just thought I’d say how pleased I am that it is flying at all. I was not alive whist these aircraft were in service and I never ever thought that I stood a chance of seeing one of these in the air where it belonged. So I would like to thank all at DeHavilland Aviation etc and Red Bull for allowing me to forfill a dream of being able to see such an outstang piece of British history gracing ourskies, whether it is Yellow and red or Blue and Silver, I feel very privalage to have seen it. 🙂

I did overhear a conversation between groundcrew at Yeovilton last year and it was said that CVIX cost £6000 an hour. I can’t see many people being able to afford to run it themselves. Paint it whatever colour you like as long as it flies.

I totaly support the view that in the air is better than not at all.

I think that Red Bull deserve a lot of credit for picking the Sea Vixen to sponsor. They could have picked a hunter or another more numerous type.

I for one, would love to see the Red Bull B-25 at Legends! (I am sure I will get shot at for saying that!) Has anyone got any pictures?

Stringbag – sorry I’ve lost track a bit, that’s the ex-Brooklands Vixen owned by Neil Hallett and his late father isn’t it?

The aircraft in Solent Sky (the Southampton Hall of Aviation) is in tip top shape and could fly again.

NickB

I’m with you – In the air wins every time!

This is a beast of an aeroplane and the paint scheme does not detract from one of the most spectacular Airshow performers available today.

I don’t know how I would feel if Red Bull wanted to sponsor Black 6 though!
(complete double standards – how shallow am I !)

Good news 🙂

Anybody want to place bets as to how long it is before anybody, other than me, mentions its paint scheme?

Which one of the survivors would be easiest to return to ground running condition?

Of course in this democratic society we live in everybody is entitled to express their opinion – that is not to say of course that everyone has the correct opinion!

The point I was trying to make was comments by some could be detrimental to the hard work and effort put in by deHavilland Aviation to get an historic fast jet back in the air. Of course this would not also be possible without the financial support given to the team by Red Bull from which we all (and I mean aviation enthusiasts here) benefit from everytime we see the Sea Vixen grace the skies at airshows.

This support also helps to support other big projects such as the Vulcan XH558 project – who knows what influence the Red Bull project had on the decision makers of the Lottery Fund – maybe none at all – but at least it goes to show that some commercial organisations are forward thinking enough to appreciate that through supporting aviation projects they are not only making a lot of people very happy but are also maximising exposure of their brand to consumers. It is called a symbiotic relationship – everyone benefits in their own little way.

The careless thoughts of some who have probably seen a Sea Vixen fly numerous times 30 or 40 years ago could prevent people like myself (or my son in future years) from enjoying aircraft of yester year from gracing the skies.

Rant over!!

…wearing a slightly non-standard paint scheme…

Er, it’s a bit more than “slightly” non-standard I would suggest.

They are just borish moaners.

Not necessarily. Maybe they’re just expressing an opinion to which they are perfectly entitled.

Bring ’em on I say.

Anyone who would rather see an aircraft grounded than in the sky (wearing a slightly non-standard paint scheme) where it belongs is not a true aviation enthusiast.

They are just borish moaners. If some-one gave them a £50 note they would probably complain that it was the wrong shade of red…
