A couple of months ago I posted a photo of Seafire SR602, taken on Malta. I’m (very) slowly restoring other photos from the same set, and have just done this one;
It is a Seafire III coded M8R of 728 Sqdn, up from Malta. The date is almost certainly within the same time frame as the other photos in the set i.e. 1945-46.
Unfortunately the serial is just not readable in the dark shadow, but I’m hoping that one of the Spitfire/Seafire experts can help to pin it down. My own trawl through the usual publications has thrown up just too many possibilities, even within that narrow date range.
