In the current Flypast, June 2009, ‘Latest UK Civil Register News’, it is reported that LA546 is in the ‘pipeline’ for a move…to Paul Andrews.

This is totally and completely wrong without any foundation in fact whatsoever.

It strikes me – and has for a while now – that a certain well known and well respected Spitfire historian has rather less input on Spitfire matters in a certain aviation magazine than had hitherto been the case.
Said magazine – in my humble opinion – ought to have said Spitfire historian rather more involved.
Just my view.
It’s very nice of you to suggest that, but I’m way too busy at the moment…..

Funny I thought it was predominantly relating to Spitfires !, oh and museum guides, oh and airfield guides, oh and airshow guides……….

Yes, I think that shot was taken and posted about ten years ago as a response to a certain gentleman, with a ‘Turkish’ persuasion, who was on record for denigrating the Mk XII as a fake or not worthy. 🙂

I know the current owner wants to keep his plans private and he has the absolute right to have it like that.
But are there any pics about at the time of the recovery of both LA564 and LA546? Will this be against the wishes of the current owner? I have never seen any pics of these airframes and they are unique as well.:rolleyes:Cheers

Cees,
There are no privacy/secrecy issues with the Seafire 46 pair.
LA564 is with Tim Manna/Kennet Aviation at North Weald being provisioned for a full restoration to flight after SX300.
LA546 is with Craig Charleston stored in the Colchester area.
Here is a shot in the Carlyle scrapyard circa 1965. They were well known but there were no takers until Dennis Kay.

Could you start a rumour about where the aircraft isn’t to give Seafire F.46 enthusiats something to ponder ?

Doesn’t “is reported as” normally mean exactly that: “it is an unconfirmed rumour but we cannot resist publishing it in case there is some truth in it”?
Yes, but best kept away from ‘Latest UK Civil Register News’.

Did it make me Spit my coffee..”er No”, but the owner of LA546, repeat LA546, was extremely displeased.
