Seafire Mk 47 nearing completion at Nelson Ezell’s shop. Airplane is now getting painted and should fly in the next 2-3 weeks.

Ohhhhh…. Excuse my ignorance, but I’m new to this board 😉 SR, I’m just curious, but what aircraft do you own or have there?

Thanks for that. It is still a Seafire flying so I am not going to quibble over a paint shade. I was just interested.

Bright Green

They didn’t.
This may be a trick of the light/flash. The cockpit has been painted in a US interpretation of the British cockpit colour Grey Green. Early 40 series Seafires were painted in this colour but subsequently painted and over painted in matt Night – Black to you and me.
Unfortunatly the cockpit colour had been applied before the ‘Flypast Forum triumvirate’ offered their services on the camouflage and markings. With all the cockpit systems installed it is unlikely that it will be changed.

Camoflage for maritime airsick.:p
Seriously though, it’s going to be a stormer. 2nd Contra-prop flying S-er-fire in the world today (both US too)…
Cheers

Nelson’s just doing some work for me at his shop, I still live in Kansas City and keep my airplanes here.
I never got to attend the airshows in Breckenridge, but I guess they were really something in their day. Unfortunately I understand the expense just got to be too much.

SRPATTERSON, what brought you to Breckenridge from Kansas??? I grew up and still have a place outside of town there and fondly remember the great airshow they use put on (:( , alas) and the occasional visit to the airport and Ezell’s shop. Haven’t been a while, so, what else do they have in the works there right now? Take care….

Excellent news. Look forward to seeing the photos.

Correct,
I talked with Nelson Ezell today and he said the plane is now out of the paint shop (except for the spinner, some discussions going on about the original color).
First flight planned for end of month/first of next month. I plan to be there and will get some photos to post.
