It’s been good to read about the first class restoration of the the Ezell Seafire 47 in the USA, but it got me wonderigna bout projects here in the UK.
From reading wrecks and relics I understand that there are 2 Seafire III projects in hand. I seem to rember seeing a photo on the web of the Wizzard Investment example having it’s engine run. She looked great complete with BPF markings. But since then all seems ot have gone rather quiet.
Then there is the eagerly awaited Seafire XVIII owned by Kennet Aviation.
Does anybody know the status of any of these projects or indeed of any other?

If Kennet get their Seafire and Gannet flying it would make a very nice double act.
More like a Double Mamba act 😀

I think you’ll have to wait a couple of years to see that Andrewman.
Kennet will have some good combinations. The JP1/JP5. The Huey(to come)/Wasp/Scout. The Skyraider/Seafire/Gannet. The two Gnats.
Then of course they have XF515, the only F6A Hunter in Europe, and one of only two left flying in the world 🙂

The Kennet Seafire 17 is likely to appear very late Summer or early Autumn, certainly before the year is out and hopefully before the end of the display season.

Seafires
Thanks for the feedback. Certainly looks like things are on the move in the right direction. Can’t wait to see it all come together.
I must say the mk46 that Mark 12 mentioned sounds very intriging, lets hope we see it airworthy at some time in the future

Does Peter Arnold still have that Seafire 46?
I understand he sold it two years ago.
Before you ask the inevitable, I am advised he signed a confidentiality agreement.
RX168, when last heard, was in the Swindon area. Although substantially dismantled structurally I believe it is still available for sale.

I saw a photo of Seafire Mk.III RX168 a few years ago – is that under rebuild somewhere?

The Seafire III only ran for a maximum of 30 seconds and was far from complete. Subsequent to this it has required further rectification work which as I understand it is almost complete, however it then needs someone to bolt all it’s systems back in and sort it out to the CAA’s satisfaction.

The Wally Fisk Seafire 15 PR503 is now very close to a first flight in Minessota.
Other members closer to the Seafire III may be more helpful than me on details of progress.
Its funny, nothing for over 40 years then three in one year!
