Seafire VP441.

Just received the latest photos of Seafire FR Mk 47 VP441 from Ezells. The aircraft is now out of the paint shop and in final preparations for the first post-restoration flight. It looks immaculate!

Can’t wait to see it in the air.

Enjoy!

Mark,

Great! Many thanks for that. Just got back from a 3 day trip in the south of the country on my other project.

It will be a while before I see the June issue. May’s arrived in the post yesterday!

Stieglitz- be careful what you say. I don’t imagine the bean counters at key Publishing would appreciate falling sales due to the use of a service which they provide free of charge.

If that continued too long, there would be changes in the wind……

441 looks fantastic. Does anyone have any idea a restoration of that quality and complexity takes? In both man hours and conventional time terms it must be enormous.

Thanks for posting those pictures. You have a wonderful place over there and some very beautiful aeroplanes. I know we will all want to see pictures of 441 in her new home when she arrives.

There is no limit to the number of pictures you can post and from now on its possible to post up to five in one go!

Thanks for the Mustang Photo!

I was wondering which Mustang you all had. I saw your Seafire yesterday and its still the greatest! When do you think you will come down to look at her?

Lynn

Any chance of poting some pics of the Mustang and Corsair either here or in a new thread. I for one would love to see them as I’m sure others would.

Well as far as how many airshows she sees I couldn’t tell you…..Jim has flown in a couple with his Mustang and Corsair, but he isn’t one to go from airshow to airshow…as far as it making it across the pond I couldn’t tell you….he has been waiting for this bird to fly now for seven years and I got a hunch it will be here for sometime….on the other hand I have never seen him turn a fellow pilot or aviation fan down to see his collection…..like I said earlier he is quite a man and he respects the warbirds like no other person I know….come across to the good ol USA and I am sure you can see her up close and personal. He is good friends with Nelson and respects his efforts and abilities so one never knows…..this I know Mike his A&P will never let it look like it did before, and Nelson has done an awesome job restoring it.

I have enjoyed your posts on my bosses new airplane. Just to let you all know this plane will be well taken care of by Jim and his A&P mechanic Mike. I know some of you have been in contact with Mike and he has shared some info on Crystal Lakes and Jim’s airplanes. We (Jim ,Mike,Jeri and I) get to go check the girl out in about a week or two. I imagine at that time Jim will fly her and go back down in a month or so to bring her to her new home. She will fit in there nicely. Don’t worry about her as Jim is an awesome pilot and has many many hours in warbirds. He truely is an awesome individual. Thanks for your support over the years on VP441 and Mike or I will post some more photos from Montana when she arrives.
God Bless,
Bobby 🙂

Will she be flown regularly for the public or hidden away as was the worry on here,
Is there any chance of her crossing over the “pond” and flying in the UK.Many thanks 🙂

Mark & Martin,

Thanks for posting those.

It seems that some work was carried out on the airframe at Booker. The fuselage has been stripped of paint and the starboard camera port has been faired over. I wondered when that was done. Now have the answer.

I think your date is pretty accurate.

BR

Laurie.
