Whereas the only thing they had in common was that they both served with CFE

I am new to this forum but I just want to find out about a Spitfire Aircraft I saw.
It was in the 60s at a dissused airfield at Lavenham (suffolk). As well as them having a Lancaster NX 611 there was also a Contra Rotating Prop (Mk 24????) Spitfire there but not flying. Does anyone know which a/c this may have been and if so WHAT HAPPENED to it. Any help with this will be greatfully accepted???

That is the best one of about dozen I have, taken from the Vampire chase plane.

Whilst flying with the Vampire around the clouds I understand Jack Malloch entered a massive ‘thunderhead’ and it tumbled.

There is the most splendid video of the restoration with air to air, made as a tribute to Jack Malloch.

At last! An air to air of the Malloch Spitfire – well done Mark 12. I never thought I’d see it – seems to be a very elusive Spitfire to be featured in the media. What a beauty.

Does anyone know why the aircraft crashed? I heard many years ago that the aircraft may have departed controlled flight in IMC.

The GO code in this case is actually the Central Fighter Establishment.

I bought my copy at the RAF Museum some three years ago. The FAA Museum also had some copies a couple of years back. Don’t know about the present situation. Newark Air Museum Shop also had some copies a couple of years ago. You could try contacting their shop through their web site at:
