SeaFury N56SF

I’m wondering if anyone knows what the current status and location of this aircraft is. She first flew again in June last year after restoration at the Sanders’ place, at which time it was reported she would be heading to France. Perhaps I’ve missed something, but I’ve not heard anything more since. Is she still heading for Europe?

See: http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18913&p=190157
and look for Boghopper Mk 11a posting on Thu 31 Dec 2009. And yes, she’ll be heading to France when engine repairs are finished.

Thanks ‘959, such terrible luck to have two serious engine problems before she’s even crossed the pond.

I just spent the weekend (27/28 August) odd-jobbing at the Lausanne meeting to celebrate 100 years of aviation there, and ex-N56SF (now F-AZXJ) was present. It flew in Saturday evening, together with Spitfire PRXIX PS890, from Dijon. Spectacluar low, fast pass with smoke. In fact it is an ex-Iraq Fury, not Sea Fury, although now painted as RAN WH589 “NW 115”.
The only mishap of the weekend was when it dropped its right-hand mainwheel into the soft grass off the taxiway. A couple of hours later it was fished out and no harm done.

Just found this link which shows the aircraft undergoing flight testing in the last few days with the rebuilt engine. 🙂
