SeaFuryFan – do you have MS FS2002 / FS2004?

If so you may want to check out this site:

http://www.fsfreeware.com/dcd/FS2002/Aircraft/index-19.html

Half way down the page there is an exceptional Sea Fury model. I think there is a version for CFS2 too.

Thought you may be interested.

Paul,
I can’t seem to get the shiny texture to work for me. I want that last version of 434 you have posted. I’ll send you a private message regarding what was in the e-mail.

Been off the boards for a while. No, could not resist that Sea Fury Macky – awesome!

But am still wrapped up right now on IL2 on the first missions. The realism of aircraft damage is simply stunning (showing stringers and longerons, punctures aircraft skin) 🙂

Alexis,

No I didn’t get your email.

I may have deleted it by mistake along with the spam but I’am usually very careful.

I did reply to your post on Avi8 though.

MH434 is a repaint of Paul Rebuffat’s CFS2 SpitIXc that my Dad did. I do plan to release a FS2002/4 package at some time of his Spits and that is one of the repaints that will be included. In fact 434 should feature quite a lot. 😉

Also have a BoB film texture of 434. “Were the hell are you Simon” Hint, Hint. 😉

Macky, I see you found the MB.5. Doesn’t look lie the shiney MDL
though.

Btw, the Rebuffat collection of Spits can be found at Simouthouse.

Cheers

Paul

Am I happy now…

Excellent FS models of my two favourite prop fighters – the Sea Fury, and this…they should have produced it! 🙂

Paul,
Where did you get that MH434 from? And did you get my e-mail regarding repaints?

Macky,

well, it was for CFS2 but worked fine in FS2002. There was also an updated MDL with shine.

I think I got it form the SimOuthouse but they recently had a severe hack and lost a most of their uploads.

However they are back up now and are in the process of restoring their file libary but I’am not sure if it’s been re-uploaded.

Try searching Avsim and Flight Sim.com for it.

It may even be at Simaviation too or NetWings as well.

Cheers

Paul

MB5

Looks nice, in a speculative colour scheme. I’d like to know where it’s from, I haven’t seen that one before.

That Sea Fury is a cracking model.

Hogs FPS a bit in 2002 but doesn’t in 2004 although does cause it to crash form time to time. 🙁

I don’t recall any problems with the ground handling on the default FM but I since added my own anyway.

As for the Firefly, well Bazzar form Aeroplane Heaven is in the process of redoing the model for FS2002/4 with all the latest bells and whisltes. Should be great.

If you’re looking for the best UK Airports/Airfields then I suggest, if you haven’t already, try Gary Summons excellent UK2000 series. FYI, this the same package Just Flight recently released as “Britsh Airports”.

His work is seriously brilliant and Part 6 is just around the corner along with updates for his existing work for FS2004.

And it’s all compatible with the VFR Photo Scenery.

Here’s the link to his site:

FS Sea Fury update

There’s an update posted at Flightsim.com called sfre1u.zip, which is said to improve the ground handling. (ref earlier post about taxi difficulties). It’s certainly a brilliant flier!

I think so, yes, but I think the source of the download was from someone called “Shigeru”?? Japanese guy, by the sound of things (duh!). Mind you, this was ages ago now! Don’t remember there being any other options!

Also, I tried to download a VERY smart Spit XIV in SL721’s old colour scheme for CFS2, but for some reason the thing wouldn’t work! 🙁

AJ – that Spitfire download. Would it work on CFS1?

I downloaded a Mk1A Spit (19 Sqdn codes QV-K, I think) that, strangely, has a Cessna instrument panel! I’m all for a wee bit of modernisation on some warbirds, but come on!!

Hi,
CFS1, 2 and 3 are all independent programs, you don’t need one before the other – they’re successive generations. 1 is crude by today’s standards, 2 is ok, 3 I haven’t seen but I’ve heard is demanding on hardware.
Century of Flight aka FS2004 is the latest generation of the civvy sim, includes some historic stuff too. It’s new, but I’m sure it will follow in FS2002’s footsteps with piles of free and payware addons. You can download almost any aircraft you care to name for FS2002.
You also need good harware for the civvy sims – fast processor, and a good graphics card especially. Having a high quality joystick and some rudder pedals makes a huge difference too.

I have XP Home and CFS1, CFS2 and FS2002 all run with no problems.

Soaking it all up fellas. Right – please sort this one out for me, I am well confused!

MY operating system is XP.

What is the first MS FS that I should get? Is there a basic one I have to get (you know, the one with the civvie stuff on) before I get CFS 2?

Will I miss out by not getting CFS 1 first? Is there even such a thing, and will it play on XP?

Do I have to get CFS 2 before installing CFS 3? And I’ve just heard that MS are soon to release a new version of the European war!

Please tell me which versions I should forget and which ones to get. And what about this MS 100 years of flight FS just out? Is that just civvie stuff? (scratches head)

Thanks!

SeaFuryFan – Alternitively, you could get CFS2 from me at a very reasonable rate, AND get Korean Compat Pilot, which features the Sea Fury plus associated missions.

Paul – thanks for the link. I’m sorry that I hadn’t added anything to previous messages regarding your brother’s tragic loss. I’m a pretty good writer, but some things leave me at a total loss for words, so I’d rather leave it up to others to try to get across what I would like to have said.

Thanks for the kind words Chris. If it was the back seat that was being prepped when you saw the aircraft at Biggin Hill, then you almost certainly would have been talking to Neil. He had a great time at that airshow, and he sent me some photos of the Firefly in formation with the F86 that they flew with there.

I will download the Firefly today if possible.

SeaFuryFan, you should be able to pick up MS Combat Flight Simulator 2 at a fairly decent price these days and there is a CFS2 version of the same model available at that website.

As for online play DazDaMan, you may want to check out Warbirds III. I have played Warbirds for over 3 years now (and Neil did too). Here is a link: www.warbirdsiii.com
They run events as well as arenas and have just released an almost 1:1 scale map of the ETO for scenarios. Much like Aces High but a little different in feel. The arenas are not as full as those in Aces High though..

Just having a nosey on this thread.

What other online flight sims are there around? I’ve never ever managed to play CFS1 online before, for some reason! Mind you, not very PC literate (switch it on, dial up internet, print out porn!!).

There’s a pretty good arcade-type flying game – AirAttack – if anyone’s interested in getting it. Go to: www.airattack.co.uk

Unfortunately, they will be changing servers soon, as at the moment we fly for free on the Korean servers, but the new one will be a pay-in type (for want of a better expression). It’s pretty easy to fly the assorted planes, but the competition is very hard! Basically all you do is go around shooting others down and racking up kills and new ranks. Fun, but frustrating!

There’s also a pretty good add-on for CFS 2 with a Sea Fury and Firefly, if anyone’s not seen it already. “Korean Combat Pilot”, I think?

Hi Paul,

Thank very much for the link – oh no, where will it ever end? 🙂
First, I got into Aces High. Fantastic fun, flying with 700 other players in an arena. But I finally succumed the other week and got IL2 for a tenner. I can’t get over the realism of the game – contrails, tracer smoke, handling etc.

And now I may have to succumb to MS FS. I’ve steered clear of it so far because it just looks like such a vast program – but here I go to the link anyway….:D
