Hello,
Yesterday I bought an old book about the air war in the south-west friesland the area I live. This book was published for the first time in 1969. There is one very interesting/nice story that happened only a few km from were i live, one evening a few fisherman were working when they hear gunfire. Shortly after that they heard/saw something felt on there nets. As fast as possible they brought it on board of there vessel and saw it was a “pilot”! In fact it was a navigator of which his name remains unknown. What we do known is:
The 20th of October 1943 a mosquito of 25 sqn crashed on the edge of the Sneekermeer9 a lake). The next day the Germans found a wreck of a mosquito together with the killed pilot K Matthews who latter was buried in Sneek. Anyone an idea the id of his navigator that was rescued by the fisherman?
Best regards,
Mathieu:)

Hei lion rock,
Thank you very much! Nice to see how easy it can be to find such information thanks to the forum and people like you. What does RAFVR mean?
Any one with a photo of this mosquito? Best regards, Mathieu.:)

Searching for ID Mosquito Navigator
Hi
The other crewmember of the Mosquito was listed as Observer Flg Off DC Burrow who was taken prisoner. The aircraft was a Mosquito IIF DZ689 and was on a bomber support sortie.
The Pilot was 82954 Sqn Ldr Kenneth Matthews RAFVR, now buried in Sneek General Cemetery, the aircraft having taken off from RAF Church Fenton
