Searchwater 2000 fixed wing application

This is the only aircraft currently matched for the fixed wing application of the Thales Searchwater 2000 AEW. I believe this is a S-2 Tracker re engined with new turboprops, new avionics and strenghtened airframe. I read also somewhere that they could do this to the S-3 Viking too. You guys have any comment on that? Im sure the US Navy has surplus airframes of the Viking and these would be an affordable AEW platform for budget air forces. It could also do secondary maritime patrol (fitted with optronics), since the Searchwater radar is capable of that. ELINT perhaps?

You guys know any other commercial aircraft, that could be a cheap alternative (preferably jet powered) that is capable of doing these missions.
