I’m off to Seattle next week on business, but have secured a few days to myself. The conference that I am attending has its dinner on the final night, and guess what- its in the museum of flight 😀 😀 😀 .
So, I’ll go back the following day and do it properly, with camera of course.
Anyone else been? if so what else is worth seeing, can you get into Boeing at all?
Phil
its amazing, this is the first time on the forum since Jan 13th!, I’ve sort of missed it.

If you are interested in pleasure flying in vintage biplanes , you might want to check out these guys :-

They operate from the ramp right next to the museum entrance.

Dennis…
I was there in late February on my birthday (I have a VERY understanding and lovely British wife). The new Personnal Courage wing is great. Though the planes are the same one’s I’d seen a dozen times before in Mesa (at the Champlin museum) the MoF did a great job in putting them in context.
Also, don’t forget to go across the street where you can see a 707-120 (VC-137B), a 727, the prototype 737 and 747….as well as a white elephant called Concorde (not a slam at Airbus or the Brits…just that while it’s an amazing plane…it was a dud economically, the true test for an airliner.) You can go aboard the first and last mentioned.

This amazing aircraft alone is worth the price of admission!

I was there in October 2004. The lightning is very good in the large main gallery thanks to all glass walls and ceiling but the new Personal Courage Wing which houses the former Champlin Fighter Collection has no windows with black walls & ceiling and aircraft are lit by small accent lights. It reminded me of RAF Museum Hendon, “would someone please turn on some lights in here?” NOT ideal conditions for great photography.

Phil, lucky you are!!! The Museum of Flight is outstanding and must be even better now the former Champlain stuff is there. Boeing Flight test works out of King Field (I worked there in 1989/90 on AWACs when we bought them…happy days). I returned on 10th September in a fateful year for all of us in the free world…it was the Society of Flight Test Engineers Symposium….the 11th was a terrible first day….
Later that week we had a banquet on the field in an aircraft hangar, one by one the freighter engines spooled up and everyone was so happy…before that all we’d seen above in the skies were fighters.
Give my love to that great city and try and have a meal up the top of the Space Needle!
Have fun and make sure you bring some pix back!!
