When I visited the Yorkshire Air Museum a while back, I saw that there were plans to build a second T2 hanger next to the existing one. Does anyone know if this is progressing?
Thanks

But last time we went there we couldnt go inside due to the radation of the dials, good job he didn’t know that during the war!
Fancy only surviving for 70 years after being exposed to radiation on a few dials. Imagine how long “old chap” will live if he hadn’t been!

Are there any plans to allow internal tours of the Halifax? Something I really would like to do and would be happy to make a contribution to the cause.
I went in the Halifax some years ago, with an ex 158sdn wop/ag. It was fasciating. He even told me how the got into a Halifax, just put your backside on the floor under the door then sing your legs in. He also pointed to the escape hatch that he used when he was shot down.

You used to be able to, cost circa £150 IIRC.

There is no bombbay as such. the video I have about it’s reconstruction
shows that the used L-shaped wooden formers to give the idea of closed bombbay doors. The fuselage interior is fully fitted out.
It’s simply a magnificent exhibit and night events such as East Kirkby would
be magical.

Well if there are plans to build a second T2 its not going to happen anytime soon. The whole area has been turfed.
They do how ever have what looks like a bonfire in the carpark, which is going to be a hangAR for the WWI aircraft.
