Yo dudes!
I got this yesterday on PS2 – and it ROCKS!!!
The flight controls are easy to use (once you configure flight controls to “advanced” to use the rudder) and the graphics sound and flight models very, very nice. The aeroplanes themselves are well rendered – they even have things like the cartridge ejector chutes detailed!
Unfortunately, it’s the usual “Yanks won WW2” story(!) but it doesn’t really detract from the game, as you get a very engaging storyline as you fly in the new, top-secret Battlehawks Squadron in the Special Ops Executive.
Once you complete a mission, you get to unlock gallery footage shot at Planes of Fame in Chino, showing a number of the aircraft used in the game (although footage showing ex-TFC Spitfire ML417, voiced-over by Steve Hinton, is let down by it being described as a MkV!!).
LucasArts has gone to a LOT of trouble to make an entertaining combat flight sim for the consoles and it’s well worth the cash, but don’t just take MY word for it!!!

For Xbox, because i have BT Broadband i had to fit an ethernet card in my PC then it was just a cross over RJ45 lead from the PC to the Xbox then go select Xbox Live and register. Thats it. You can then play any games online that are Live enabled. I think PS2 is the same. If you have cable or NTL then you just get an RJ45 cross over cable and plug that straight onto the modem and the Xbox and then your all set.

I’d be interested to see how this works. Would you have to get some sort of add-on for PS2/X-box? I’m not at all up on these things!!

I’ve ordered the Xbox version, and that and the PS2 version are online playable.

It may strike some as odd to see Bf109Es flying over Burma(?) if you get that far in the game, but this all has to do with the German fighter squadron supplying a Japanese outfit with weapons.
A really good feature of the game is that as you complete missions, you get new fighters added to your inventory, so if you need a bit more speed or manoeuvrability for whichever mission you happen to be on, you can easily hop into a Spitfire, Hurricane, Bf109 etc! Can’t wait to see what else comes up!
A suitably impressed Daz! 😀

It’ll advertise Network Play on the box, as this is a bit of a novelty for PS2 games.
How did you get the screen shot?
By: DazDaMan - 1st December 2003 at 08:43
Rob – I think it was Network play, although can’t be sure from memory – certainly a two-player, at least.
I didn’t get the PC version ‘cos my PC sucks! I can’t be bothered with the hassle of constantly upgrading my PC as it’d probably be out of date by the time I got it back from the PC shop!
It’s out on the X-box as well, same price: £39.99
I hope I get Medal of Honor Rising Sun for Crimbo – saw an advert for it on TV and it looked AWESOME!

can you get it on X-Box?
By: RobAnt - 30th November 2003 at 17:37
On the PS2, does it have “Network Play”?
Why didn’t you get the PC version?
