Has the recent security alert at LHR and other airports last week ended yet? Have the army took their tanks and helicopters home? Or is it still ongoing? It would be interesting to know now whether there was a legitimate reason for the alert or whether it really was just Governmental ‘spin’?

I’m not a spotter or photographer (well, maybe the odd rally car late 80’s early 90’s). I was just curious as to what the status was now or whether security had been reduced to more normal levels.

According to what I have read on the airliners.net forum, the viewing terrace at LHR is still shut off. But as for photographing the aircraft from elsewhere, i.e the perimeter road, I think you’ll be ok.
