Security Breach @ LHR

A man with a rucksack has ran on to 27R at LHR. Flights delayed or Cancelled.

What a prat. Hope he gets shot!

And funny how the BBC newreader said that it all happened on the runway “twenty seven R” šŸ˜€

I’m not. As I said two weeks ago re the other losers. This is a post 9-11 world. Pax do not need the extra stress of seeing a person with a bag in a place he should not have been.
A 50 calibre in the chest would have left him in two pieces. If the plonkers from 2 weeks ago had been sorted properly, this idiot would not have tried it.

And how long would LHR have been closed (or on limited ops) if they’d have shot a guy on the airfield? In today’s polically correct / inquiries about everything world, a significant part of the airfield would probably be closed for days whilst the HSE/PCC/whatever investigated, inspected and inquired.

As it was I was flying out of LHR on Thursday evening and when I parked on the north side, I thought it odd that the north side runway was not being used. There were quite long lines of aeroplanes holding on taxiways too. However, by 18:00 when SA235 was ready to go, aside from a few BA domestics showing cancelled on the screens in T1, LHR was largely back to ops normal.

The guy ran with a backpack towards a Emirates plane (allegedly). The backpack alone could have been reason to shoot first, ask questions later. Chances are the backpack only has a few cans of spraypaint and red bull (red bull gives you wiiiiiings), but chances are also there is a bomb in there. Those security checks to get airside are not just to catch those dangerous little bottles of water you know.

I was referring to the environmental protesters, Peter. I should probably have made that more clear.

Anyone stupid or malicious enough to directly threaten a loaded airliner deserves whatever they may get, IMHO.

I’m well aware of the reason for landside security checks, thank you. šŸ˜€

Personal election manifestos should be posted in General Discussion, should one feel the urge so to do. (Oh dear…… )

This is the Commercial Aviation forum.

Thank you

Hmmm. Summary execution for political dissent and peaceful (though downright stupid) protest?

Good job we’re the good guys, isn’t it?

Actually, I was thinking more on the lines of shoot to *wound*, not shoot to dead them. If it went so far as to trial, they deserve a fair one, so I’d want them alive. The man at Manchester was zapped with a taser gun. :diablo: :p

I’m afraid no-one who is trained to use a firearm on another human being shoots to wound, Adam.

They shoot to kill.

I share a different opinion to you there, to a certain degree. Yes when the officer is carrying a firearm “They shoot to kill” but in the respect where the officer is carrying a tasergun, they are only designed to incapacitate a person temporarily to stop them escaping from the Police or causing injury to themselves or anyone else.

Should have shot the man, just like they should have shot the Plane Stupid activists a few weeks ago.

The last major “airside-outside” security breach at Manchester resulted in the suspect being shot after getting onto the apron. Why they can’t give them the same treatment at LHR, I don’t know.
