Seeking ORIGINAL photo of Fokker DR1 exterior cockpit area

Seeking ORIGINAL photo of Fokker DR1 exterior cockpit area..

..more specifically, the hand-painted text outside and slightly forward of the cockpit giving the weights allowable:

LEERGWICHT 379KG
NUTZLAST 196KG
GESAMAT GEWICHT 210KG

I understand that it was originally hand-painted in DIN 1456 text, but some historical interpretations of this text seems to be inaccurate.

I only need a small portion of the text to replicate, but it must be from an original photo. An original portrait photo of a pilot might show it.

Perhaps Moggy with his contacts might point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the replies. Alex, I will PM you.

Hey Baldeagle are you the same Baldeagle as in Brodhead, biplanes and carburettor intakes?

And…err..certain aviation activities over here…If so, I’ll PM you.

There is an other possibilety and that is to make contact with the Fokker Heritage Trust. They can be contacted tru the Aviodrome;
http://www.aviodrome.nl/english/

Apperently they have the complete archive from Fokker after it went belly up.

dude, I’ve been into this situation too, I did the stenciling for a friend’s Fokker Dr.I here in Italy (I should have the Illustrator files somewhere yet..). I’ve been seekin for pics for long time before producing what we considered the most accurate version, and after a month we applied them another pic came out which showed small differences(even if it was on a Fokker D.VII!). I do believe mine’s quite accurate, been spending hours on redoing each curve (even the Fok. DrI stenciling on the fuselage), so if u want it drop me a message and I’ll mail it to u 🙂

Thanks, Moggy…No. 118 is what I seek (top right hand corner), but I am looking for an original photo, which your link doesn’t point to, so as to be as authentic as possible. B&W will do.

I will try contacting them nonetheless.

You could maybe start with the manufacturers of the decal sets on this page. They may have worked from original sources
