Travelled down to see the old project and with the guys nearly finishing the skeleton was just wondering if there is someone has some canopy slide extrusion available.

For personal reasons I moved up to Bribie Island to regain some sense of self.I still help out when I am able…
Yes guys I thought same thing it must be parallel and only curve I can think of is in the flange to where it sits against the curved skin. But thought there was a shaped shim for that.

QLD Spitty, when you say, ” Travelled down”, ” the old project” and “the boys”, you make it sound as if your no longer actively involved in it! What gives? Are you still holding the bucking bar?

Yes you are probably right Bruce about the riveting. 1/8″ rivets on a half inch pitch would probably stretch the material so curving it

Steve,
I based my observation on originals; perhaps the act of riveting them into the fuselage put the curve in!
I recall an issue with fitting straight ones, but don’t remember what it is now – too much wine since then!

Not an easy thing to make – remember to put the curve in!
Hi Bruce you are right about the curve but I can see no reason for it. I have looked along original canopy rails and they do appeared curved, but the diamentions from C/L of a/c to the knuckel point is a constant 11″ along its length !! equalling total width of 22″. So they should be parellel !!

Supermarine Aero engineering in Stoke made some recently for a fuselage they restored so may be worth speaking to them
