Attached Lanc canopy drawings – cant see a match for the shape or the construction

Lanc canopy section I had was made from angle aluminium with bolts through the perspex from the outer frame – lots of bolts.

Firstly, I thought it was not Lancaster…

However, after extensive checking of on-line photos. I have drawn the conclusion that it is not a million miles away from a Lancaster windscreen, side screen lower panel. The thing that was confusing me, in the photo, is “what is the hole for at the top centre”? As we see it in the photo.

Photos I have seen indicate that a knob, inside the cockpit, allowed the said lower panel to be opened for ventilation. With one included each side. Mr R Chadwick designed the said side panels to be curved in nature, in a manner that we can see in the auction site photo.

Not Ebay but at auction

https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/stride-and-son/ca…

I am sure this was passed a couple of months ago as an unknown and now it is associated with a Lancaster ?

Looks more like 50’s than 40’s construction.

Hi All,

Tornado simulator cockpit for restoration ?  If you have the money could be an interesting project as a static display or active simulator.   A bit on the rough side but a great start for a project.

We found a lot of these at the RAF dump at Silloth – we concluded they were Airspeed Oxford.
