Not that you’re ever one to confuse the boundary between opinion and fact, Old Shape. 😀 :diablo:

For the record, Stella is by no means at the top of my drinks list, I only drink it in my local because it’s better than the alternatives of Carling and Carlsberg. I’ve spent enough time in Europe to know what decent beer is. 🙂

Paul

Opinion? No, I headed a very large Marketing study (Years ago) on the brewing industry of UK, and how it’s sole intention is to fleece the young and gullible. Or, to put it in correct terminology “Demographic targetting”.

As for your pub, he only puts those on so you are forced into the Stella.

If that.

Just say that 4 letter word and he’ll come running….. and no, burger is 6 letters.

Picking on me when I’m in Alghero and can’t retaliate immediately… Coward!

I find Stella a nice crisp tasting beer similar to the Canadian Moosehead

Stella. YOU FOOLS, YOU FOOLS! “Reasurringly expensive”. What a masterclass of marketing! They are ripping you off by about 150% per can, so they give it “in ya face” on TV. It’s like getting mugged twice. It has a little taste, but it’s other claims to justify the price are just rubbish.
Even the Co-op’s own strong lager tastes better, and is an outrageous 8.5% Alc. Don’t knock it until you try it.
I’m an Ale person, but occasionally tortured to drink lager at somebodies BBQ. Flavour in Lager is an odd thing. I love the German cloudy stuff, I love the Belgian Qwark (sp). I love the true Bud and the draft Holsten in the early 80’s. Oh, and the one they sell/brew in Cyprus. The rest are pretty awful, it’s lack of flavour hidden by the ice cold temp. it’s served at.
Oh, and the one that was brewed to prevent farting. Sold in curry houses. It tastes OK, but it doesn’t work in that department.

I am all these things. With a “Don’t sit on the fence” attitude to one or two things. LoL.

I should be the Prime Minister. Except I’m bright, educated, honest, have normal sexual proclavities, common sense, values, scruples….so politics is out. The drop in pay would hurt too.

Hang on, this isn’t about swearing. Totally acceptable in Australia, and totally acceptable from the likes of the God of modern comedy Mr Billy Connelly and many many others.
It’s because a “chef” decided to rip into a newsreader, apparently a popular one.
He’s a good chef. He was a good footballer before that. If his language was the barrier, he wouldn’t get so many invites for world tours etc.

As for Jeremy Clarkson, he is the only Brit on TV that is speaking up for british values. The rest cow-tow to the political correct garbage dreamt up in the 80’s by pinko idiots with nothing better to do than assume that THEY need to speak on behalf of others……which is the biggest insult to “The others” imaginable.

Is there another Britain somewhere that i don’t know about???

The U.K. used to have a good reputation here in the U.S.
People really used to think anyone with an accent was posh, polite, possibly minor royalty.:D
All the new “celebs” have pretty much ruined that image.

They love Hugh Laurie, Hugh Grant (why?) and the Bond films, but Amy Winehouse, Ramsey, assorted foul-mouthed comics, the idiot Clarkson and shows on the BBC America channel that confuse bad taste with modern humor have shown some of my countrymen that there is more to the UK than the old sterotypes.

Pity.:D

Britain used to be known for politeness.
Nowdays, with its celebrity based culture fueled by “reality TV” people, the contest seems to be who can be the most insulting to other people and nations.
