Senseless lyrics

Not the kind of thread I’d usually start, but today, I heard the song “Human” by The Killers…
And I couldn’t help but focus on the lyrics. Maybe I shouldn’t have.

I’m now wondering:

1) did the songwriter just randomly place a bunch of words on a sheet of paper and call it a song?
2) did he just do this on purpose of being annoying?
3) is this some sort of manifest for an obscure cult?
4) did they just realise that some people will buy anything?

And, does anyone else have other example of songs with plain stupid lyrics?
