hey everyone im am writeing an essay on avation security formy collage course and part of it covers september 11th im sure that every one i aware that american airspace was closed to all commercial traffic for several days after the attacks and aircraft were backed up in airports all canada and the uk i was wondering if any aircraft were diverted into ncl because of this any information would be most helpfull

IIRC, no aircraft were diverted to Newcastle.

Don’t think there will have been much, if anything, as most aircraft were simply landed in Canada or at other airports in the US (Boston, Bangor etc) or turned back, maybe via a refuelling stop in Keflavik and returned to there airports of origin (ie LHR, FRA etc)

They would not of been any landings in the USA all of there airspace and airports were closed.
I know that there was a A33O of Austrian in Manchester,Gray Area and I made the quick run up for it.
It was there for fuel and did a U turn midflight
