I think the lens is a 500mm prime?? First time I’ve seen one at an airshow.

I saw at least one of those lenses at Legends, but it was supported by a monopod – surely a professional wouldn’t hand-hold such a monster?

That’s the sort of lens I see press snappers use at football matches all the time. Handy for player close up’s and tackles at long range.
