Hi all back from my holiday / work in Phillipines/ China / Hong Kong and Vietnam.
In China I saw what was left of the B25 – very bad and rough but given it’s historical provinance I would think it worth preserving – it is stored on a PLA airfield near Shanghai. I also heard that they have the remains of 2 P40s but I didn’t see them.
In Manilia 2 P38s have now been excavated and are in very good condition with a lot more to come I hope – they will not be coming out in a hurry though as they don’t want to lower the price and I think it will be a while before the “people’ involved get organised enough to do much.
Did all the other usual stuff and caught up with friends
Tragic news I saw today about the Australian Sea King crash in Indonesia last Sunday on relief work – 9 killed- Some were friends of mine – Rest in peace.
good to be back and nice that some of you are playing up – Well done !!!
Regards

Hi Tim
Yep there are pics of Manilia – need to wait a little while before I publically post them ( I did promise) but I will send you some. None in China as it was a PLA airbase and the DO shoot people for that there!!!
regards and say hi to the family please

John
Not wishing to be ungrateful, but I can’t help but notice that there are no pics attached to this thread.
Come on old chap the jet lag must be gone by now and don’t even think of making excuses such as you weren’t allowed to take pictures. I can’t believe for a moment that you didn’t have at least three digital cameras and a digivid with you at all times.
:p

Hi James
Nice to have you back on air
“More when I’ve got an aussie ISP who can provide a service that’s not a joke.” – No such thing thanks to the Guvmnts Broadband policy – which thankfully I didn’t write!

Ooo. Interest.
I’m alive, just offline and unpacking a rather large aviation book library and building bookshelves. You know how it is. Avalon’s airshow was rather spiffing BTW.
More when I’ve got an aussie ISP who can provide a service that’s not a joke.
Cheers!

Hi all some points in response
1) the China B25 is SUPPOSED to be a Dolittle raider ship
2)”Manonthefence John
Do you have any way of contacting JDK……..hes missing! “
I will phone him tomorrow and get to the bottom of his dissaperance – He did move so perhaps he is without computa at present ?
3) Hi Robbo – saw Kermit Weeks , Ray Hanna and Jerry Yegan in China all biding on the Stirling but I think Melve beat them to the punch for his next project.
4) Tony I was doing a 3 week pub crawl of Asia much like a CAMRA that didn’t end (Now that was a great night mate)
Regards
to all

Welcome back, John. Any news on the Sterling parts?
Still ‘pounding’ away on that one?

Maybe it was discussed in an earlier thread and I missed it but what is the background to this B-25?
