Setter moving to the US!!!!!

Hi all

It appears that I am to retire and move to the US with Mrs Setter for a few years. She who must be obeyed has been offered a promotion and it will be in the US some time in the next 12 months. If I can get a permit I may even get a job and stay employed but I can say I am looking forward to the idea. This has just happened so nothing is cast iron but it is a great prospect for me as I do love the place and I have all those aircraft to see.

Sorry to upset those yanks who would rather that I stay at a long arms length but thats life and we will probably come home after a few years so it’s no permanent.

I am still a little shellshocked at the news but I think it will be great.

More news as it happens

Regards
John P

If you would like to have the feel of your home Country I can always find you some nice place up here in Maine, remember we are looking to start a new Air Musuem and could use a retired like Gent to run the day to day operations.

Plus the Lobster and Moxie are a hell of lot cheaper here then they are in other parts of the States.

Cheers

Mr.Setter,While I am sure that Maine is very pretty, and I have the highest respect for Mr.Rohr.Unless you enjoy freezing your BALLZOFF,avoid the East coast of the U.S.A..Come to sunny Southern California. It costs more to live here, but the advantages are many(like no snow)and Chino is 20 minutes away.also ignore the media reports of violence.I have lived here all of my life and havent been shot at once(I did have a DC-9 crash in my front yard once). My Kevlar T-shirt is still in its package and the batteries in the Tazer are dead.Good luck to you whereever you do finally wind up.Tim

Tim,

Its never cold here 😀 just because I can look out my front window and see five feet of snow in my front yard doesn’t mean its cold yea it gets a tad winter every now and then but hey we don’t have to worry about Wild Firers,Earthquakes,Mudslides all we have is an Ice Storm ever now and then. 😮 😀

Well John don’t leave us in Suspence have you any ideas or is Mrs.Parker going to be picking the new AVM Parker retirment home for waywere lost historical aircraft nuts.

Cheers

Setter:

Hope you will find a place that you will enjoy living, here in the south the cost of living is better than any place in the US and the weather is tops. Have to plug the great state of North Carolina, we have it all beaches, mountians..great climate. But I am sure you will enjoy your stay!

Hi Mike et al

Don’t know anything yet all of this has literally just happened – and it won’t happen quickly ….. but Kansas city was mentioned (Thats where her boss is based) . Don’t know if you mean Steve being far from me or me far from Steve but I’m sure we can have a bit of fun with all the US forumites and Steve is a pretty good guy so I guess we will be able to put up with each other!!!.

Fantastic John

Much as we like to rant on about the US, it is an extraordinary place full of contradictions and eye-openers. You will have a great experience. And it’ll be a sh!t load easier to go the Thunder over Michigan airshow !!!

cheers, Don

Welcome to the States!! WHERE will you be residing, do you know? Lots of salmon here in the Rocky Mountains (and great skiing) and a decent collection of birds, but it’s not Chino….but only 1000 miles from it!

No I think the Aston stays here as I do intend to come home and it’s right hand drive and US is left – but really I am just getting used to the idea of ME going – Cat also has expressed doubts but I told her salmon is easier to get there and basket is being packed as we speak….
