Does anyone know anything about the background of Kenneth Christopher Holland, of 152 Squadron, one of the Battle of Britain “few”?
I am currently researching this, but need more details of his life in the UK before he joined 152 Squadron.
He died on Sept 25, 1940 after a battle with a Heinkel 111 which had bombed the Bristol aircraft factories at Filton. His Spitfire crashed at Woolverton, just south of Bath. I would be grateful for any information, or suggestions on where I can discover more.

I have just heard that a wreath will be laid at 12 noon UK time on Sunday, Nov 12 at the memorial stone for Sgt Holland, at Woolverton, just off the A36 road to Bath.
This brief act of remembrance is being carried out by members of the Frome branch of the Royal Air Forces Association, which has just taken over responsibility for the upkeep of the memorial. I mention this in case anyone wishes to attend.

This sounds interesting, Tangmere. I’ve seen a photograph of the wreckage in a book and it was credited to the Imperial War Museum (London). I wonder if this is the same picture? Is there any way of sending me a copy by email? Try sending it to moorhouse1 AT mac.com

I also have a photo of the He 111 wreck after, I think, a collision with Holland. Andy Saunders

Just a brief updater for all those who have looked at my original query: I have had an excellent response from members of this forum!
More details about Ken ‘Dutchy’ Holland are still coming in to me from various sources, so the picture of the man is being added to by the day. This note is simply to say a brief and sincere thank-you to all who have contributed their time and knowledge.

Hi CP,
We had a quick look at the RAAF Museum archive today. I presume you’ve got the entry in ‘Men of the Battle of Britain’?
I got some stuff from ‘A Few of the Few: Australians & the Battle of Britain’ Denis Newton. I’ll send you an e-mail with the data – let me know by PM if you don’t get a couple of e-mails through in the next hour.
Cheers

Many thanks, Tangmere. Could you ask your colleague to email me using moorhouse1 AT mac.com – so I can get in touch? By the way, what is your special topic of interest?
