Shackleton control wheel centercap

recently got a shack yoke, deviod of buttons and center cap. Would quite like to “fill the gaps”. What do I need to be looking for?

I already have a couple of the 5c/898s kicking about so that is easy though when I tried them they seemed a bit loose

Could this be what you need?

Not sure other than it is AH2040.

I’m pretty sure I saw AH2040 mentioned on the Westland Whirlwind thread…

They’re not made in one piece, so I would believe it! Later marks had various bits fitted for the stall warning too. Then with the MR3 the design changed completely.

There’s that many detail differences from MR1 to MR2 its infuriating, especially when you have bits for one and not the other. The MR1 shares more parts with Lancaster and Lincoln than it does with later Shackletons.

Ha! I cannot believe they went to the trouble of recasting the yokes just to omit the brake levers on the later marks!

Tony’s yoke is the MR2/AEW2 version, easy to spot as it hasn’t got the mounts for the brake levers. While the overall shape is the same, they are slightly different.

That’s interesting Tony,
looking at your picture is appears that your yoke is bare metal behind the push buttons? It is a little diffictult to tell. Mine has the dip coat present. I wonder if the yokes were machined and then dip coated covering the holes?

Thank you all for your replies.
So it would seem that a lot were in use without a cap, so thats good one less thing to find! I will look out for a couple of small toggle switches.
I already have a couple of the 5c/898s kicking about so that is easy though when I tried them they seemed a bit loose. Also there does not seem to be any holes to recieve the screws to hold them steady? See picture of my yoke.

There’s a Shackleton yoke well down the page here, amongst some very nice others. The buttons and switches don’t look very British though?
