Barring a miracle, the Shackleton MR.2 era has drawn to a close, with the final ferry flight of Mr McHenry to Tuscon. See the full thread on WIX (Warbird Information Exchange) sorry, I have not been able to post link.

Being ex coastal and having a few hours (albeit as groundcrew!)flying in them I also am sad to see the last one shut down.One memory is of a shack at Ballykelly doing a beat up over the squadron at ……well,very low indeed ,if only video had been available to us all then!Much better than seeing fast jets!!Pity they couldnt get rid of that large carbuncle underneath though!!

Although it is sad to see, at least she will be kept in a warm dry climate. Who knows one day she might return to the skies!! Not looking forward to seeing her canopy and windows painted over though:(
