Shackleton MR3 AP request

Hi all,

Despite having around 16 ton of drawings, we don’t have many AP’s for the other marks of Shackleton than the MR2/AEW2. I’m trying to find out some details of the MR3 braking systems, and due to its difference in being hydraulic rather than pneumatic and fitted with Maxarets, its proving difficult to get information from the drawings of anything other than pipe runs.

Does anyone on here have the necessary section of the AP that they would be willing to photocopy or scan please?

Kind regards,

Rich

Thanks Peter. 🙂

I’ve been watching the fantastic progress at Gatwick through the photo’s on the Facebook page. Its inspiring stuff, and the revamped museum is going to be the envy of a few organisations I’m sure.

Kind regards,

Rich

Rich,

on the way Fri a.m.

PS The concrete for the new building is almost all poured, should be complete tomorrow. Just got to get it set and dried so that we can roll airframes onto it, estimate 7 weeks. The rest of the building will be finished in three or four weeks.

I’ll stand down Rich – glad that you are getting sorted out with the required APs! 🙂

Howard, Peter, thank you both.

Peter, if you already have the manuals scanned and could send me a copy that would be great. You’re right about the cost of AP’s from the RAF Museum, we had a radio AP copied last year and the cost was eye watering.

Howard, if Peter already has the manuals scanned I think I’ll take him up on the offer; though thanks for the offer of copies from NAM – I appreciate the amount of time it would have taken to do that.

Thanks again,

Regards,

Rich

Rich,

There is a set in the NAM Archive, but in the light of Peter’s offer please advise whether or not you would like me to access them and make copies etc.

Rich,

I have all three volumes of the AP101B-1703-1B1, 1B2,1B3 that I scanned some years ago from our copy. They are a bit tatty in places but we haven’t found anything missing so far. I’m quite happy to send you a copy of all of the manuals, if that’s any help. As an aside the RAF museum has all three volumes but I hate to think what the cost would be these days, last time I checked they wanted £250 per vol.

Rich,

I’ll get the NAM Archive checked tomorrow – if they have relevant items I will get them copied when I go to the museum on Friday / Saturday.

IIRC correctly they do have some APs as they were heavily used back in spring 1977! 🙂
