I almost forgot this one – same aircraft, but taken in the moonlight during the 50th Anniversary event at Newark last August.

Now that ‘contra-rotator’ would have given the game away as it’s been in Hangar 2 for more than 18 months now!

No need to ask your colleagues I was just curious; I got the impression that it was more recently than that โ seems everything moves slowly on Shackletons!
Very cramped inside, which is even more amazing when you consider the length of some sorties!
Was a time where the museum had the T4 cockpit down for Cockpitfest, fingers crossed for a good turnout next June.

it was july 2006 and i can remember to be honest who opened it up, there was three of us and i can ask the other two if they can remember if you want?

Neil996,
Picking up on one of your earlier posts, when did you visit Newark?
Also do you know who was opening the Shackleton โ was it the former pilot or one of the other cockpit openers?

wow things do come to those who wait!
In reality it goes back even longer โ at least 31 years! ๐ฎ
That section of the cabin on WR977 was lacking avionics back in 1977 when I helped dismantle the aircraft at RAF Finningley.
The story of the move is told in the second of the Shackleton books that the museum published and theyโre still on offer from the museum shop http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/shop.htm

Nice.
Is Newark museum any good? I drive past many a time en route elsewhere.
