Hi All
A friend of mine is part of the team that maintains Shackleton WL795 at RAF St Mawgan.
He has requested pictures of ‘795 when she was operational. Does anyone have any that would mind sharing?
Thks in advance.

Waiting for the location to be confirmed where 795 will be displayed, all the components are in the same place now, along with the portacabins.
Rest assured 795 has not been forgotten.

I endorse Twin Otter’s comments and well done to the Cornish Aviation Society members who kept the old girl going, turning up weekly since the late 1980s.

Well done to everyone involved – it’s a great feeling to achieve things with Shackletons that people say can’t be done! :applause:
Remembering similar feelings from spring 1977!

Just look at the amount of hard work and dedication that’s gone into moving that ole Shackleton. Some remarked that it was only fit for scrap, whilst others kept quiet and got on with trying to give it a better future :applause:

Nice to see these comments : ‘Yes now the vulcan is grounded i shall look to these projects and when i can help with donations they need all the money they can get’
I have been told so many times that people who give to the Vulcan wouldn’t give to any other project ! I am a great believer that people who appreciate the Vulcan can also
see the merits in helping other worthy projects.
Well done for keeping the Shackleton in Cornwall.

Thanks Rich, we’ll have to limit towing speed in that case 😉

Main wheels should be ready for collection (fingers crossed) by end of play Saturday. They’re ground use only I’m afraid, so don’t get too ambitious!

Tail wheel unit now swapped out, 795 is sitting on inflated tail wheels for the first time in a snip over 25 years. Both vertical stabilisers are off along with the rudders.
Looking at the wings next.

Search ‘Save Our Shackleton’ on Facebook…should be there, can’t link for you as Her Majesty blocks social media 😉

Anyone have a link to the video of the engine removal?

The main problem is a lot of stuff is seized up & unwilling to budge, but we’re getting there with minimal force. 🙂
Main wheels …certainly getting close now Rich, so stand by!
Good to hear. We’ll get two mains picked out and get them as close to the door as we can ready for when you need them, I don’t fancy trying to dig them out in a rush. They’re a tad heavy!
I’ve also just had news from our archivist 5 mins ago – we have found the main landing gear leg drawings.
