Just returned from Christmas in the sun and would recommend Sharm for the aviation enthusiast as well as the divers! All aircraft approach to land over Naama Bay and the hotels at Sharks Bay are next to the airport. I wouldn’t recommend wandering round the airport taking photos, but from our hotel grounds and with a 40x digital zoom camera I managed some grainy shots – we were about 4 miles from touchdown.
Another bonus is the variety of aircraft – plenty of the usual Boeings and Airbuses, but as the Russians love Egypt Tu154s and IL96s are a common sight (and sound!!).
